Privacy Policy

Quvito is a media player and library manager that runs on your own devices. It collects no personal data, runs no analytics or advertising, and has no account system. Your sources, credentials, library and viewing history never leave your own devices. This policy explains what that means in practice — including the one Quvito-run service the app does talk to, and how to switch it off.

The short version

• We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal data.
• We run no analytics, tracking, advertising, or crash-reporting services.
• We operate no account system — there is nothing to sign up for, and nothing to log in to.
• Your media sources, credentials, library, and viewing history stay on your own devices and your own server — never ours.
• One exception, stated plainly: to fetch posters and descriptions your server looks titles up through a proxy we run. It sees the title being looked up — not who you are, and nothing about your library. We log none of it; details below.

What Quvito does with your information

Quvito plays media from sources you provide — your IPTV/Xtream account, M3U playlists, add-ons, files on your device or network storage, and the free built-in radio and podcast directories. To do this, the app stores the details you enter (such as provider URLs, playlists, preferences, favorites, and playback progress) either directly on your device or on the Quvito server you run yourself (for example, the Quvito desktop app on your PC, or the app's own standalone mode). This information is under your control at all times. It is never transmitted to Quvito, and we have no ability to access it.

Network connections the app makes

Quvito connects only to endpoints that you configure or that provide app functionality:

• Your own Quvito server — the desktop app on your computer, another paired device, or the app's built-in standalone server. This is your infrastructure, on your own network (or reached through a secure tunnel you enable).
• Sources you add — your IPTV provider, playlist host, add-ons, or network storage. These connections are between you and services you have chosen; they are governed by those services' own terms and privacy policies.
• Free built-in directories — public radio and podcast catalogs used to browse stations and shows.
• Metadata lookups — to show posters, descriptions, cast and the discovery rows, your Quvito server looks titles up through meta.quvito.tv, a proxy we run that holds the shared metadata key and caches results.
  • It is read-only and anonymous by design: GET requests only, a fixed list of permitted lookups, no cookies, and any session or account parameters stripped before the request goes on to TMDB.
  • We log nothing — no query content, no request logs, no analytics. There is nothing on our side to keep, search or hand over.
  • As with any service on the internet, our host (Cloudflare) necessarily receives the connecting IP address in order to answer the request. Because only your server makes these lookups, that is your household’s address — never each individual phone or TV.
  • Your sources, credentials, library and viewing history are never sent to it.
  • There is currently no in-app setting to turn this off. Metadata is built in, so title lookups always take this path.
• Artwork — posters, backdrops and cast photos are loaded straight from TMDB’s image server (image.tmdb.org) by whichever device is showing them. Those requests go to TMDB, not to us, under TMDB’s own privacy policy.
• Optional integrations you turn on — services such as Trakt, Last.fm, OMDb or OpenSubtitles. These are only used if you explicitly connect your own account or key, and any data exchanged is sent to that service on your behalf under its own privacy policy.
• App updates — the app may check a version file hosted at downloads.quvito.tv to tell you when an update is available. This request contains no personal data. When Quvito is installed from an app store, updates are handled by the store instead.

Permissions the app requests

These are the permissions the Android phone and TV apps ask for. The Windows app requests none of them — it uses ordinary desktop networking and file access.

• Camera — used only to scan a pairing QR code, entirely on your device. No images are stored or transmitted. Never requested on TV, which pairs with a typed code instead.
• Network & Wi-Fi state, multicast — to discover your Quvito server on your local network.
• Notifications & foreground service — to show media playback controls and keep audio playing in the background.
• Install packages — used only when the app is installed outside an app store, to install an app update you have chosen to download.

Children

Quvito is not directed at children. The optional "Kids" profile is an on-device content-filtering convenience and does not involve any data collection.

If you contact us

If you email us or use the feedback form on this website, we receive the message and any contact details you choose to include, and we use them only to respond to you. We do not use them for any other purpose.

Data retention & your rights

Because we do not collect or hold your personal data, there is nothing for us to retain, export, or delete on our end. All of your data lives on your own devices and server; you can remove it at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version on this page.
